Traffic fines can be paid at Driving Licence Testing Centres (DLTCs), online via a service provider website www.paythat.co.za, at municipal cash offices and at till points at participating retailers.

From 1 July, fines can also be paid at Game, Massmart, Makro and Builder’s Warehouse, Jumbo, Pick ‘n Pay and Boxer stores, and Kazang.

‘In an ideal world, motorists would not break the law and rack up huge numbers of fines. Some incidents are genuine lapses in judgement or time, and then there are habitual offenders who couldn’t care about following the rules. Traffic fines serve as a deterrent and stops most motorists from engaging in unsafe driving behaviours like speeding, running red lights, or driving under the influence. When we hold our motoring public accountable for their actions through fines, they are more likely to adhere to traffic laws and regulations, thus creating safer roads for everyone. We have made it easier for those who want to do the right thing and pay their dues,’ said Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security, Alderman Smith.

The Traffic fine roadshows have also proven to be very popular and will likely continue to remain in rotation. Details of planned roadshows will be made public once these are confirmed.
