Empowering Capetonians: Discover the Cape Town Entrepreneurship Academy
By Staff Reporter

Cape Town – The City of Cape Town is helping to unlock opportunities for budding business minds through the Cape Town Entrepreneurship Academy – a free, online learning platform offering practical courses tailored to every stage of the entrepreneurial journey.
Launched in November 2022, the academy has already become a valuable hub for Capetonians seeking to gain knowledge, boost employability, and grow their businesses. The platform features expert-led video modules on both business and life skills – from start-up fundamentals, digital marketing, and financial planning to first aid and emotional intelligence.
All courses are self-paced, completely free, and come with certificates of completion – providing learners with a valuable credential for their CVs or business portfolios.
“This initiative is about creating an environment where anyone with a dream can access the tools to make it a reality. A thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem is key to driving economic growth and employment. Our mission is to make Cape Town the easiest place in South Africa to do business,” said Alderman James Vos, Mayoral Committee Member for Economic Growth.
The Entrepreneurship Academy is part of the City’s broader Business Hub support network, which offers free workshops covering tendering, cost structuring, scaling operations, marketing automation, and supplier networking.
Why Capetonians should explore the Entrepreneurship Academy:
- Free and flexible learning: Engage with expert content anytime, at your own pace.
- Beyond business: Courses include vital life skills such as emotional intelligence, first aid, and financial resilience.
- Certificates of completion: A tangible boost for your career or business profile.
- Business growth support: Practical knowledge to help entrepreneurs budget, market, and connect with suppliers.
Residents eager to expand their knowledge or sharpen their entrepreneurial skills can sign up via www.thestartuptribe.org/pages/capetown. For those who prefer in-person learning, the City’s Business Hub continues to host regular free workshops.
