Drakenstein Municipality celebrates local business chamber’s big win

By: Staff Reporter

Drakenstein Municipality has congratulated the AHi Drakenstein Business Chamber for winning the AHi Chairman’s Award for Business Chamber of the Year at the AHi Western Cape Congress and Awards Ceremony held in Cape Town on Friday, 31 October 2025.

The award recognises the Chamber as the best among 61 AHi Business Chambers across the Western Cape. This follows Drakenstein Municipality’s own recent success, when it was named Best Municipality in the Western Cape by the Provincial Government in September.

Together, these two achievements show how strong teamwork between the Municipality and the local business community is helping the area grow and succeed.

Councillor Stephen Korabie, Executive Mayor of Drakenstein Municipality.

“These awards confirm that Drakenstein Municipality and our Business Chamber are on the same growth path. We are a winning team,” said Councillor Stephen Korabie, Executive Mayor of Drakenstein Municipality.

The Mayor said both the Municipality and the Chamber understand the importance of working together to boost the local economy and create jobs. “Drakenstein is prospering because of the strong partnership we have with local businesses,” he added.

Dirk Breytenbach, Chairperson of the AHi Drakenstein Business Chamber, said receiving the award was a great honour and dedicated it to the Chamber’s members. “Without them, this would not have been possible,” he said.

He also thanked the Municipality for its continued support. “We work closely with Drakenstein Municipality to make sure businesses can grow in a strong and marketable environment. The support from the Executive Mayor, his team, and municipal officials has played a big role in our success,” Breytenbach added.

The Drakenstein Business Chamber runs several events and projects throughout the year to help local businesses connect, market their products, and share ideas. “We are very proud of how we help businesses network and improve,” said Breytenbach.

He also thanked all the businesses that took part in the Chamber’s events. “We look forward to another great year in 2026, creating more opportunities for local businesses to shine,” he concluded.

From the Best Municipality to the Best Business Chamber in the Western Cape – Drakenstein is proving that teamwork truly leads to success.
