There was a sense of excitement in the air yesterday as the official media launch of the Nekkies Easter Music Festival brought together key stakeholders, media, and partners, all united by a shared vision of celebrating culture, community, and connection this Easter. The programme was officially opened by Mr. John Bulani, Senior Communications Officer at the Breede Valley Municipality, who welcomed attendees and set the tone for the event.

This was followed by remarks from Mr Colin January, Manager of EPWP and Local Economic Development, and a member of the organising team behind the Nekkies Easter Golf Challenge. He emphasised the value of collaboration in driving initiatives that contribute to local economic growth and community upliftment. Building on this, Mr Raymond Esau, Director of Strategic Support Services and organiser of the Nekkies Easter Music Festival, delivered a presentation that unpacked both the vision and deeper meaning behind the event.

“The Nekkies Easter Music Festival is more than just an event, it is a celebration of our culture and where we come from. It is about reconnecting with our roots and bringing people together through music and shared experiences. When you talk about Easter, all roads lead to Worcester,” said Mr Esau.

Representatives of the Mayoral Committee, including Cllr. Dr J. Kritzinger, were in attendance, alongside a strong presence of partners and media houses such as Swey Design, Valley FM, Umzi FM, Khwezi Times, Breaking News, Winelands Echo, Worcester Bazaar, and Nedbank. Their attendance reflected the collective support behind an initiative that continues to grow in both scale and impact.

As momentum builds towards the Easter weekend, the Nekkies Easter Music Festival is once again positioning Worcester as a vibrant hub of culture and celebration, where music becomes the meeting point for community, heritage, and shared experiences.
