Cape Town Marathon Set for World Majors Review – Here’s What You Need to Know

The Sanlam Cape Town Marathon on 19 October is one step closer to joining the Abbott World Marathon Majors, a series that includes Boston, London, New York, and Tokyo. Residents, motorists, and participants should note road closures, parking restrictions, and transport arrangements.
Having cleared the first stage in 2024, Cape Town now faces a 104-point assessment covering safety, logistics, and runner experience. Alderman JP Smith said: “A car-free route is key to this milestone. We ask the public to support the marathon by respecting parking and road rules.”
