Paarl Gets Ready to Take Strides for Africa

One continent. Two walkathons. One of them is right here in Paarl.
On Saturday, 3 October 2026, World Fair Trade Organization,Africa and Middle East will host the Strides for Africa Walkathon at Ayama Slent Farms in Paarl, bringing people together for a day of wellness, community and a shared commitment to building stronger economies and creating a more sustainable Africa, #BuyLocalBuildAfrica
There are multiple Strides for Africa Walkathons held annually on the continent – with South Africa’s edition taking place in Paarl. This makes the local event a unique opportunity for residents and visitors to be part of an initiative that connects communities across Africa.
Presented by the World Fair Trade Organization Africa and Middle East, in collaboration with Paarl Travel and Tourism, the walkathon is about more than exercise. It promotes Fair Trade, sustainability, healthy living and support for local businesses, producers and entrepreneurs. Local businesses have sponsored the walkathon, contributing significantly to create a fun, safe and engaging day. These include Ayama Slent Farms, PACRS security, Manzi Water, Paarl FM and Winelands Studio.
Participants will also have the chance to discover locally made and sustainable products and services from local businesses and artisans.
Ayama Slent Farms, with its beautiful Winelands surroundings, provides the perfect setting for families, friends and fellow walkers to spend time outdoors while supporting a meaningful cause.
For Paarl, hosting one of the Strides for Africa Walkathons in Africa is something to be proud of. It also offers an opportunity to showcase the town’s tourism appeal, local talent and growing focus on sustainability.
And there is an extra incentive for early registration: the first 200 people to register will receive a branded Strides for Africa Walkathon T-shirt.
