Mayor Engages Sports Leaders to Strengthen Community Development

In July, the Executive Mayor Jeremy Fasser and Municipal Manager Geraldine Mettler met with leaders from various sport councils across the region as part of a series of ongoing stakeholder engagements.

These meetings are aimed at strengthening collaboration between the municipality and the sporting sector to address challenges, unlock new opportunities, and ensure inclusive development for all communities.

“Sport plays a critical role in uniting communities and nurturing talent,” said Mayor Fasser. “We remain committed to open dialogue and working together to grow and improve sport throughout the Cape Winelands.”

Municipal Manager Mettler echoed this sentiment, highlighting the importance of partnerships in building sustainable, accessible sporting programmes. The engagements will continue in the coming weeks as the municipality deepens its commitment to community upliftment through sport.
